God Bless my Canadian Husband and His American Job

It’s been so long since I’ve had health insurance that I was starting to miss those long waits on the phone whenever I tried to schedule a doctor’s appointment or those never-ending arguments with insurers about premiums and co-pays after I got an extravagant bill for what I believed was a covered procedure.

It was tough being a grad student or working multiple jobs that didn’t come with medical insurance.

But now, thanks to my Canadian husband and his American job, I can attempt dangerous acrobatics in the apartment or run through the streets barefoot without the fear of stepping on a nail because hospitals will welcome me and my insurance card.

God bless my Canadian husband and his American job for giving me health insurance.

I hope everyone can appreciate the irony.
